I am not saying that you have to agree with what the bible says, but to utilize that book ‘as a plate’ knowing what it means to people, is just plain disrespectful.  It’s sad that people are so full of anger when it comes to religion, that they would rather post photos like this than deal with their hostilities in a more appropriate way. i’m sorry, i cant hear you over the sound of nOT BEING ABLE TO GET MARRIED BECAUSE OF THAT BOOK. Reblogging for ^. Symbols are not the same thing as what they represent. That’s why they are symbols. Putting a bible in the microwave doesn’t hurt anyone or take away anyone’s rights. It’s just a book in a microwave. With a slice of pizza on it. You know what is far more disrespectful? The fact that some book is the main incentive behind people trying to dictate what I can and cannot do with my body, who my friends can marry, what gets taught in our schools, and who is “morally upright” enough to adopt children. And FYI, most people who are angry at religion are actually more angry at the fact that people blindly follow these antiquated, unnecessary, irrelevant sets of doctrines that have been the cause and motivation behind some of the most disgusting and atrocious acts in the history of mankind than they are at religion itself. I’m also willing to bet that if this had been a photo of, say, Slaughterhouse Five or One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, or any other comparably compelling and important works of literature we wouldn’t have heard a peep from you. And to me, that is far more upsetting than you being offended by a picture of an overrated book in a microwave. That book made good rolling paper once in high school…
